Pleasure is Your Birthright

Do You Eat Your Favorite Bite First?

I was recently asked this.

Such an interesting question. I used to save the best for last. That I would want the best bite of chocolate cake or sub sandwich or virtually anything for the last savoring bite.

Now? I eat dessert first, best bite first, my favorite part of something, first.

I choose pleasure first too. That sunny day, when I could or would plug away on my computer and watch the day go by. Not anymore, I finish the urgent tasks, then go and seek the fun and excitement a warm and sunny day offers. The work, the to-do list, will always be there.

Pleasure in all its forms, from physical pleasure, to experiential pleasures, to finding pleasure in this moment. Setting your intention to seek, cultivate and find pleasure can be an empowering practice for women.

Why we need Pleasure now more than ever:

Pleasure heals

It is a feel good chemical release that is natural and healing for your body. Whether that is through self-touch, a lover’s hand or cultivating a moment of pleasure in an experience for yourself, pleasure releases chemicals and lights up part of brains that really benefit from lighting up, like:

Oxytocin associated with empathy, trust and relationship connections. It binds us to another and increased with touch, hugs, kisses and yes, orgasm or really any sexual activity.

Dopamine, released in a surge at orgasm, is responsible for pleasure, desire and motivation. It rewards us for the pleasure we let in and receive. An article in Science Alert gives you a good idea of all that is happening in pleasure.

Some other Resources for you to consume on the importance of pleasure. Enjoy…and grab some pleasure today. We are living in times of intense touch deprivation, loneliness and disconnect…what can heal this? PLEASURE.

This Buzzfeed article published originally in 2015 and updated in 2020, it provides all the various benefits and parts and components in a woman’s orgasm. Find it here.
